Krungthep Candles' Care Guide

Krungthep Candles are made with natural soy wax — a cleaner, slower-burning wax that holds fragrance beautifully. With just a little care, you’ll get a longer life, a stronger scent, and an even, elegant burn every time.

1. The First Burn

When you first light your candle, let it burn until the wax melts evenly across the entire surface of the glass. This prevents tunneling (wax burning straight down the middle) and sets the tone for future burns. Depending on the nature of the scent and oil, it may take up to 2–3 hours for a full melt pool and for the fragrance to truly come alive. Once that happens, each burn after will release the scent more easily.

2. Trim the Wick

Keep your wick around 5mm long. If it gets too long, the flame may flicker, lean to one side, or give off smoke. Sometimes you’ll notice a small build-up of burnt material on the tip of the wick — trimming this keeps the flame steady and clean. Aim to trim every 3–4 hours of burn time, or whenever the flame looks too big or uneven.

3. Burn in Comfort

Place your candle away from drafts, open windows, or strong air conditioning. A steady flame helps the wax melt evenly and keeps the scent throw strong.

4. Safety First

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always keep it on a heat-resistant surface and out of reach of pets or children.

5. Ideal Burn Time

For the best results, burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This makes the wax last longer and protects the glass from overheating.

6. Extinguishing the Flame

Instead of blowing the candle out, gently cover the flame with a heat-safe object until it goes out, or dip the wick into the melted wax and lift it upright again. This avoids smoke and keeps your wick in good condition.

7. Reuse the Glass

Once your candle has finished, clean out the jar and give it a second life. Our glass vessels make elegant holders for plants, brushes, or desk essentials.
